Saturday June 8th 10am : Welcome! We’ll do a group activity designed to help you define your personal style. Teresa and Bev will discuss their respective business models and give an overview of their individual businesses. We’ll talk Marketing, Products & Pricing, Business strategy and working with Non-Profits in the meeting room at the hotel. The entire day is spent in the classroom. No camera gear required!
Optional Group Dinner at a nearby restaurant as a group (dinner cost not included)
Sunday June 9th: Early start at 8am for a day focused on natural light shooting on location indoors and out. Teresa and Bev will both assist you as you shoot with live dogs and people (with dogs) as models. Learn, shoot, learn, shoot! Learn to see the direction of the light, set up the shot, see the possibilities in the most unlikely places and build your portfolio! This is a very full day so dress comfortably.
We will spend the morning in and around historic Leesburg. A quaint 1700′s town filled with cobbled sidewalks and beautiful architecture.
After lunch we’ll spend some time in a private residence. This is a great experience in mixed lighting, composition and finding the “gems” in the most surprising places!
As the afternoon light moves towards evening we’ll head back outdoors for some landscape shooting in the Virginia countryside!
Monday June 10th : 10-5pm All about the studio! Studio lighting instruction and shooting in the studio with live models. Intensive discussion about choosing equipment, measuring light/ exposure, different lighting systems, setting up lights and working with dogs on different backgrounds and different lighting scenarios. Lunch served at the studio.
Just 5 minutes from the hotel is a much loved camera store (bring your credit cards!). We will be shooting in their studio space to maximize our time in the studio rather than traveling to and from Bev’s shooting space!
I am looking into this workshop and was wondering what time you plan on finishing on Wednesday afternoon, because of flights out to San Diego or whether I need to leave Thursday morning. Thanks in advance
